  2. Solutions presentation framework.  It is unlikely that you will use all
  3. these slides in one presentation.  Further, you will likely need to
  4. draw on product specific presentations to address particular needs of
  5. your customers.  (A few product slides are included and can be
  6. substituted with other slides if appropriate to your audience.  Please
  7. access the various Hotlines for other OpenView product presentations.

  36. framework in order to provide maximum productivity gains to users of

  40. The scope of network and system management is immense.  It covers a
  41. range of management functions applied to a large number of elements
  42. from many different vendors.  In addition, users with a variety of
  43. responsibilities will need access to this management information, often
  44. in formats that vary with job function.  This management information is
  45. required throughout the planning, implementation and operations
  46. lifecycle of the network.

  56. program.  Our mission is to be the world's leading supplier of
  57. integrated solutions to managers of open systems environments.  These
  58. products and services will be delivered at a competitive price and
  59. increase their service levels provided to users while controlling
  60. costs.  You can think of OpenView as the Microsoft of the Network and
  61. System management business.

  64. Unlike most programs from other companies, HP OpenView is measured and
  65. managed as an independent software business, increasing our focus on
  66. providing key differentiating value through a disciplined execution of
  67. a solid business plan.

  69. We have outlined a three phase plan to achieve the business goals we've
  70. set for ourselves.  First, we established leadership with our
  71. architecture and technologies.  We invested a significant amount of
  72. time in developing and delivering the OpenView architecture.  We
  73. pioneered such inventions as Auto Discovery (automatic and dynamic
  74. discovery of the entire network) and Auto Layout (a rule-based process
  75. that understands the rules of TCP/IP networks and presents maps of the
  76. network according to these rules).

  78. In the second phase, we delivered our products through key channels to
  79. achieve industry-wide acceptance.  We developed relationships with key
  80. strategic adopters of our architecture and software environment.  These
  81. include companies and organizations such as IBM, NET, OSF, X/Open and
  82. the NM Forum.  Of course, technology by itself is uninteresting if it
  83. doesn't solve customer problems.  To this end, we have worked with many
  84. large end users and now have OpenView installed managing over 6000
  85. networks around the world.  We continue to see accelerating growth in
  86. the number of OpenView partners and solutions deployed around the
  87. world.

  89. We are now focusing on continuted development and delivery of
  90. solutions.  The network and systems management market is becoming more
  91. mature as users need to maximize the value of their network and systems
  92. investment while maintaining a focus on their business, A variety of
  93. channels, including HP's direct sales force and Professional Services
  94. Organization, develop and deliver OpenView solutions.

  98. reported in September 1991, that HP OpenView has already become the
  99. leading supplier of open management solutions based on the pervasive
  100. SNMP standard.

  127. pioneered agreements that will lead to the delivery of integrated
  128. management systems.

  132. system management applications.  Sun, DEC and HP/Groupe Bull submitted
  133. proposals.

  137. Groupe Bull.  This API is a result of the OpenView API for management
